As a teenager in high school -- right here in Red Hook -- I
wanted to help people to be healthy, but I was totally turned off to
using drugs. After all, they never helped me with my nasty allergy
to grasses. I chose chiropractic college after going through pre-med
in college because chiropractors do not prescribe drugs. It made
sense to me, especially after all that biology I studied.
Chiropractic was an answer to ill health, not just a response to
pain and symptoms. It helps your body to heal itself the way it is
designed to do. Drugs merely whip or suppress something; nothing
heals.
That was good, but then I got a wonderful surprise! I started
getting adjusted as a freshman, and the first spring, my allergies
were only a fraction of prior summers. The next year they were
almost gone -- just a tickle -- and the third year, nothing.
The education at the New york Chiropractic College was excellent.
The teachers were all Doctors of Chiropractic (DC), MDs, or PhDs.
The courses were well organized, and I graduated ready to
successfully see patients. Now add 30 years of practice experience
and I have never felt so confident.
While simply relieving pain is usually quick and inexpensive for my
patients, to tell people that they are well for merely feeling
better is wrong. I tell people what makes up ideal care for full
correction of the underlying cause of their pain, then let them tell
me if they want the whole plan, part of the plan, or none of it.
Ultimately the goal is to have everyone opt for regular check-ups
because in the long run, this produces the highest results, best
value, and lowest cost for my patients.
Outside of my practice, in summer I enjoy live musical theatre and
minor league baseball. Year-round, for more active recreation, I'll
bike the back roads (winter, too) or head for the Catskill trails.
In my quiet time, I like to read history books. I can get lost in
WW2 stories, largely because my Dad and so many of my uncles fought
in it. I visit used bookstores to assemble a collection of
biographies of every US President.
I've been getting adjusted pretty regularly since 1974, when
chiropractic got rid of my allergies. I go to a DC in downtown
Kingston about every two weeks now... out of the way but worth the
trip.
I also ride my bicycle as much as I can, and take my dog for long
walks around the village. We also run up the hill in the back of
Abrams Park until we are both winded, because that builds strong
lung and heart and slows the aging process. I neither use nor keep
pills of any kind -- no aspirin, Tylenol -- nothing. I do take
multiple vitamins every day.
OK, that's my story. Please tell me how I can help you to enjoy
better... best health through safe and natural chiropractic care?
Just call the office and together we'll explore your options.
